About:  This position provides medical readiness support to the Soldier Resiliency and Readiness Center (SRRC) in coordination with William Beaumont Army Medical Center (WBAMC) to support soldier mobilizations and demobilizations, as well as to provide secondary support to WBAMC’s Primary Care and other outlying clinics when mission permits.

Essential Functions and Job Responsibilities

Essential Functions and Job Responsibilities:  

  • The main mission is to conduct health screenings on all pre-/post-deployment personnel (service members, contractor personnel, and/or civilian personnel) to include Separation Health Physical Examinations (SHPE) on post-deployment military personnel. General soldier readiness health screenings along with primary care evaluations, diagnostics and treatment for all service members are also included in the scope of the mission.

Specific Tasks:

  • Psychiatric Technicians shall perform the following functions, within the scope of accepted Medical/Laboratory Technician practices. These shall be essentially the same duties as those required of any Medical Corps personnel or Government civil service provider of similar experience and in similar duty assignments. Other duties shall consist of, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Follow MEDDAC laboratory procedures and guidelines for specimen handling and processing, test analysis, reporting and maintaining records of service member test results.
  • Adhere to laboratory quality control policies, document all quality control activities, instrument and procedural calibrations and maintenance performed.
  • Follow the laboratory’s established policies and procedures whenever test systems are not within laboratory’s established acceptable levels of performance.
  • Identify problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results and shall either correct the problems or immediately notify the general supervisor, technical supervisor, clinical consultant or medical director.
  • Perform laboratory procedures and tests as required/directed.
  • Document laboratory procedures and tests conducted. Maintain documentation of all tests/actions provided in accordance with applicable directives and prepare such records and reports as may be required by the policy. Ensure all documentation and reports are legible and complete. The CP shall prepare all documentation to meet or exceed established standards to include but not limited to timeliness, legibility, accuracy, content and signature.
  • Shall support to the local MTF as needed.

Minimum Requirements

How to Qualify:

  • Degree: Possess a diploma or certificate as proof of having completed the required education/training as specified in Education requirement below.
  • Education: Have successfully completed or graduation from an accredited Psychiatric Technician Program; or completion of an equivalent education and experience that meets the requirement of the American Association of Psychiatric Technicians or completion of education and experience as a behavioral science specialist/technician in the United States military and proof of having completed an Armed Forces course involving psychiatric technician training or civilian course from an accredited school in the care of behavioral health patients.
  • Experience: Possess a minimum of one year of experience within the last two years working as a full-time psychiatric technician.
  • Citizenship:  U.S. citizenship. 
  • Credentialing: Ability to pass background check and drug screen. Current physical and immunizations.  

  Preferred Qualifications:    

  • Previous experience working with the military population.
