Overview

Planned Systems International (PSI) Company is seeking a Communications Specialist to join our team in a remote role. A communications specialist is a public relations worker who focuses on the communication of an organization, both internally and externally. In this public relations role, a primary duty is to ensure consistency in messages and to maintain a positive organizational image. Successful candidates must have the general knowledge, skills, and abilities required to assist with information dissemination internally and externally in a high performing government organization. Individuals should be comfortable communicating in writing, using both narrative and presentations, websites, social media, and as wide a variety of forms as necessary to achieve the goals for the position.

 

The Specialist will provide services in support of a Chief Information Office and should have a basic understanding of marketing, communications, and information technology issues. The responsibilities include maintaining contact with key stakeholders, being alert to communications opportunities, consulting on internal and external events, alerting the Office to news and opinion regarding Office activities, public event coordination, monitoring internal and external information dissemination from other off ices and divisions in the broader department, and implementation of comprehensive educational and outreach activities.

Essential Functions and Job Responsibilities

  • Develop and QA briefing materials and content for POCs, weekly reporting to CIO, ASM, DepSec, and external agencies such as OMB and CISA.
  • Conduct a quality assurance review of all cyber products.
  • Coordinate and facilitate Treasury-wide informational sessions/meetings for IG FISMA Audit, Quarterly FISMA reporting, ED reporting, BOD reporting, EO reporting, ad hoc data calls to ensure Bureaus are aware of all cyber events and updates.
  • Coordinates the agenda and presenters for CISO Huddle, CSS, CIO Council, FBIIC CISO Subcommittee, and campaigns.
  • Facilitates and coordinates CSS and monthly planning meetings with Bureaus to develop the following month’s agenda.
  • Coordinates across Treasury to compile the Annual FISMA Report and prepares it for agency head signature.
  • Improves communications processes.
  • Manages and tracks communications projects and deadlines for OCIO/Cyber.
  • Evaluates the effectiveness of existing programs. Identifies new processes, techniques, and procedures to upgrade and enhance security protocols.
  • Manages correspondence to ensure inquiries and requests from the CIO Front Office, Bureaus, CISOs, and external agencies are addressed.
  • Ensures that all Cyber communications products and submissions to the OCIO Communication plan and process.
  • Other duties as requested.

Minimum Requirements

Minimum Requirments:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field. In lieu of degree, a minimum of 5 years of related work experience.
  • Proven experience as communications specialist
  • Experience in web design and content production is a plus
  • Understanding of copywriting and editing
  • Solid understanding of project management principles
  • Solid understanding of MS Office; photo and video-editing software is an asset
  • Excellent communication (oral and written) and presentation skills
  • Outstanding organizational and planning abilities
  • Proficient command of English
