Overview

Napakiak Ventures, a Joint Venture of Napakiak Environmental & Construction LLC (NEC) and Advanced Technologies & Laboratories International, Inc. (ATL), a PSI company, is seeking an Avaya Cable Technician to join our team at the Walter Reed Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland.

This candidate is a skilled and experienced professional capable of all tasks related to network and telecommunications cabling installation, management, and repair of all fiber and copper cable, and related parts. The Cabling Technician shall hold current certifications on Data I Voice Cable (both copper and fiber optic). They will be responsible for assisting the customer with daily administration of the systems.

Essential Functions and Job Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive technical support in the area of telecommunications equipment, installation and management.
  • Demonstrated experience in Joint Commission on Accreditation of Hospitals and Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) standards for fire-stops and cable management within a healthcare facility.
  • Using industry standards, develop and maintain processes for identifying and labeling voice/data/fiber cable plant.
  • Maintain inventory of all installed infrastructure according to TIA EIA, TIA 1179, and BICSI industry standards including documentation and schematics of, voice, data, fiber cable plant.
  • Ensuring that documentation is properly completed and submitted.
  • Strong customer service skills and ability to resolve cabling issues through coordination with clients, vendors, and facilities personnel.

Minimum Requirements

  • 3+ years of relevant experience in data networking and cable installation is required.
  • Industry certification in Data I Voice Cable (both copper and fiber optic).
  • Secret clearance required.
  • Expert knowledge of Structured Cabling, understanding of TIAtEIA 568, and specifically TIA 1179 standards. Ability to comfortably interact with customer and peers to perform required job functions
  • Ability to work under pressure, handle a variety of work assignments at the same time, prioritize work and be held fully responsible for decisions.
