Overview

Planned Systems International, Inc. (PSI) is seeking an experienced Independent Verification & Validation (IV&V) Test Engineer, located remotely. This project provides independent Software Quality Assurance (SQA) testing services to support the product Software Delivery Life Cycle and Modernization efforts on behalf of our government customer. This position will be responsible for constructing tests utilizing an appropriate testing methodology, testing requirements and designs.  The Senior Test Engineers create test plans, prepare test documentation, and facilitates manual/automated testing.  They also oversee the test activities of more junior test engineers.  The team interacts with the customer and/or development team to gain an understanding of the application requirements and conformance criteria. Members of this group define test scope; plan deliverables for the testing activities of assigned projects; collect, identify, define, and organize detailed information related to testing requirements and backlogs.

Essential Functions and Job Responsibilities

As a member of the IV&V testing team, the successful candidate (team member) core responsibilities will include, but not to be limited to:

  • Planning, managing and executing tasks related to the creation of automated test scripts, test cases, and test data.
  • Planning and managing the execution of tests and the capture of test results.
  • Performing test activities in one or more of the areas below:
    • End to End -- Performing testing to ensure functionality, interoperability, and data validation across distributed components from the start to end of the business processes.   End to End Testing also includes Infrastructure testing.  This testing includes items such as database persistence, web services connectivity, and/or validation of data transfer between systems to verify technical solution requirements have been met.
    • Functional -- Conducting functional testing that tests the front and back-end functionality of the code to ensure that all the data entry, user interface, and application calculations are working correctly.  Functional testing of the software release is done providing independence and provides a validation and verification that the testing results are not influenced by other groups.
    • Integration -- Performing testing to ensure interoperability of components, internal and external, and ensure interface compliance and integrity.  Integration test scripts will be developed to emulate use of the software under test by users.
    • Regression -- Conducting testing against all previous test cases and results to ensure that new code, functionality, or new releases have not introduced errors to existing functionality. To support the accelerated roll out schedule, the team will automate all regression test scripts using the currently available test tool or an Open Source Agile Tool.
    • Security -- Conducting system and application level mandated security control testing and validation.
  • Technical and Business Requirements Alignment: Work with new system implementation vendors to ensure technical requirements align to business requirements
  • Verification and Validation: Test and verify vendors’ deliverables, milestones, security implementation, application configuration, data integration, data migration, and that Service Level Agreements meet contract requirements
  • System Documentation: Review and validate new system documentation

Minimum Requirements

Minimum Requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or other technical discipline and 5 years’ experience in software testing.  An equivalent combination of education, certificates, and relevant experience may be considered.
  • Ability to develop and maintain Selenium automated regression scripts used for validation of implemented software solutions.
  • Ability to develop and maintain manual test scripts used for validation of implemented software solutions.
  • Experience overseeing computer information system user testing and adjustments and test regression of integrated system components as they relate to J2EE Oracle Stack
  • Experience in technical management of IT projects with a minimum duration of 12 months in length that involve migration away from legacy systems.
  • Experience collaborating with development teams and departments as well as incorporating user feedback
  • 1+ years serving as a Scrum Master, Release Train Engineer, or equivalent experience helping organizations plan, manage, and implement scaled agile to meet strategic objectives
  • Experience with IV&V work such as milestone adherence, software development metrics and progress to completion for integration and migration related projects.
  • Minimum Experience: 10 years
  • U.S. Citizenship is required. Selected candidates must be able to successfully pass a thorough Government background screening process.
