Essential Functions and Job Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with stake holders, data engineers, data scientists and DevSecOps teams to execute on the roadmap.
  • Work with stake holders and data owners to identify metrics and trends to help improve business processes.
  • Analyze complex business problems and apply a data-driven strategy to evaluate and solve them.
  • Create system and software requirements specs for data applications.
  • Create user stories and manage Agile software development process (Scrum, Kanban, etc.)
  • Query multiple data sources including relational databases, data lakes and raw files to analyze data for known use cases as well as exploratory use cases.
  • Analyze, document and visualize data using BI tools.
  • Perform data analysis and create data summaries using descriptive statistics .
  • Propose updated metrics for stakeholder approval when existing methods become obsolete or less effective.
  • Develop effectiveness and efficiency metrics for existing business processes.
  • Collaborate with Data Science team to develop metrics and test cases to validate and test effectiveness of machine learning models.
  • Create test cases and participate in functional testing, user acceptance testing and smoke testing of data applications.

Minimum Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship with the ability to obtain a U.S. Government Security Clearance
  • Systems/Data/Business Analyst experience in custom data analytics project.
  • Intermediate to advanced level hands-on knowledge of SQL.
  • Experience with at least one of the major relational databases: Oracle, SQL Server, Postgres, MySQL, Aurora.
  • Experience with one of the major BI tools (Tableau, Looker, Qlikview, PowerBI, etc).
  • Experience creating statistical metrics and models to analyze business processes.
  • Intermediate to advanced level hands-on experience with Excel.
  • Experience with JIRA or similar Agile software development tool (Azure DevOps, GitHub Issues, etc.)
  • Effective communication, documentation and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a can-do attitude.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with a major statistical tool like Matlab, R, etc.
  • Experience with Databricks.
  • Experience with Big Data and Hadoop.
  • Experience with AWS cloud.
  • Experience with Python to explore data.
  • Experience with PySpark.
  • Experience collaborating with data science teams on machine learning models. 
  • Understanding of machine learning models and relevant metrics.
