About:  This position provides medical readiness support to the Soldier Resiliency and Readiness Center (SRRC) in coordination with William Beaumont Army Medical Center (WBAMC) to support soldier mobilizations and demobilizations, as well as to provide secondary support to WBAMC’s Primary Care and other outlying clinics when mission permits.

Location: Fort Bliss, Texas

The main mission is to conduct health screenings on all pre-/post-deployment personnel (service members, contractor personnel, and/or civilian personnel) to include Separation Health Physical Examinations (SHPE) on post-deployment military personnel. General soldier readiness health screenings along with primary care evaluations, diagnostics and treatment for all service members are also included in the scope of the mission.

Essential Functions and Job Responsibilities

  • The Licensed Vocational Nurses shall perform the following functions, within the scope of accepted nursing practice. These shall be essentially the same duties as those required of any Medical Corps Officer or Government civil service provider of similar experience and in similar duty assignments. Other duties shall consist of, but are not limited to, the following.
  • Obtain service member history and pertinent family history.
  • Administer Health Risk Appraisal questionnaire.
  • Perform quality control checks and operator maintenance for service member care equipment.
  • Assist in identifying service member needs and implementing the plan of care.
  • Document Care Given. Maintain documentation of all treatment provided in accordance with applicable directives and prepare such records and reports as may be required by the policy. Ensure all documentation and reports are legible and complete. The CP shall prepare all documentation to meet or exceed established standards to include but not limited to timeliness, legibility, accuracy, content and signature.
  • Prepare service members for physical examination.
  • Carry out prescribed Physician, PA, and/or NP orders and document in service member medical records.
  • Communicate pertinent service member data to Physician, PA, and/or NP as appropriate.
  • Recognize and initiate appropriate measures in emergency situations, including initiating life saving measures in absence of Physician, PA, and/or NP.
  • Respond to telephone inquiries regarding clinic services and/or follow-up ancillary reports.
  • Assist with clinic related administrative tasks.
  • Shall provide support to the local MTF as needed.

Minimum Requirements

  • Education: Graduate from an accredited community college, junior college, college, university or vocational nursing program approved by the appropriate State agency and accredited by one of the following accrediting bodies at the time the program was completed by the applicant: The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
  • Certifications: Maintain a current, full, active and unrestricted license as a practical or vocational nurse. Have and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. The American Red Cross or American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers is the only program accepted. BLS recertification shall be maintained in a current status at all times while the CP is performing services under this contract.
  • Experience: Possess a minimum of one year of experience within the last two years working as a full-time LVN.
  • Citizenship:  U.S. citizenship. 
  • Credentialing: Ability to pass background check and drug screen. Current physical and immunizations.  

 Preferred Qualifications:    

  • Previous experience working with the military population.
